A question! For you!

Hello, dear gentle weblog reader o'mine,

Answer me a question (or two), will you?

There are so many lovely/beautiful/excellent/funny/inspiring/well-written blogs floating around in the web space.

1. How do you decide which blogs to read and how do you keep up with all of them?

2. How do you organize and keep track of all those wonderful blogs?

Google reader is one option that I know of, but please notice Exhibit A:

1000+ items! 1000+. I can't keep track of all of them because I keep finding lovely new blogs and keep adding them to GR and I just can't keep up. What do I do?

I also list a blog roll on my blog, but again notice Exhibit B:

There are 5,736 (I exaggerate) blogs on there and I can't keep up with all of them! I want to, I really do, but I have lots of trouble doing it.

I need your tutelage. What are your ideas? What has worked for you in this regard?

Tutel away, please?

Wow, my blog was on the second shot…rock on.

The best advice I could give for this is to decide just which blogs are your favorites and then go from there. I am finding that I am reading blogs for a few hours each day and this will have to change when school officially starts in a few weeks…

Who won't make the cut?

No idea.

Probably those people who never comment…

Good luck making your decision.

man, that is a ton of blogs to be reading. I say have a blog purging day and get rid of some of them. I thought I was bad. I look at my google reader about 5 times a day to keep up. I generally have about 10 things to read a time. I have 189 subscriptions. I need to do a little purging, but I am lucky because most of the blogs I read are photography related so I just look at a lot of pretty pictures.

I used to be a huge commenter. I would comment on a lot of the blogs I read. I find with reading so many it is hard to comment. I wish I could do better with that.

Thank you for joining Mama's Little Nestwork! You need to add the Nestwork button (two to choose from) to your mainpage to complete the sign up. Then I will add your blog. :) Have a great day!

Hmmm...great questions! I follow lots of blogs too, so many that I recently did a bit of a blog purge myself. I was a bit brutal about it and stopped following a few that have never bothered to follow me back or ever leave a comment. I know that comments are not the way to tell if someone is a good blogging friend but if they have never even visited you after you have been following for months...well...they obviously don't want your company!

Have fun and thanks so much for dropping in to visit me. It is wonderful to meet someone with such a fabulous name!!

Best wishes always,

I organize my Google Reader into a ton of folders, such as Favorites, Recipes/Food Blogs, Inspirational blogs, Design blogs, Funny blogs, etc. I even have a folder of bloggers that don't post every day, so I just read that folder every week or so. I subscribe to over 1000 blogs and I can manage them pretty well with this system. Good luck and thanks for stopping by my blog!

Thanks for your comment, Natasha!

Stevie- How do I go about organizing into folders? That just might be the solution to my problem...

On the left side of your reader, go to the very bottom and there will be a link that says "Manage Subscriptions". It'll open to a screen with all of your subscriptions in alphabetical order. On the right side of this page you can delete, rename or change/add folders. You can name your folders whatever you want!

Hope that helps! Let me know if you have more questions!
