bwak, bwak chicken

My sister and I went to the libray last night while Jess took a nap.

As I was looking through the videos I came across a DVD that looked so good I just had to borrow it- The Natural History of the Chicken.

I happily showed it to Jesse when I got home and he really couldn't contain his excitement* at wanting to watch it!

Have you seen this movie?

*not really- he looked kind of doubtful actually...

Random city

I'm back from my little blogging absence. The reason I took the absence was because I wasn't feeling well and had been to the chiropractor and doctor several times in a short period of time and I just didn't feel like composing a blog in my head let alone typing it.

See, I'm still not back to normal. Just look at that run-on sentence. I know it was a short absence and actually the space between my posts before was longer than this one. But whatever.

Does anybody still read this blog? I hardly get comments, so I'm not sure...

I saw the "The King's Speech" yesterday. I now know it's rated R. I just thought it was PG-13 (and in my opinion it really should have been rated that).

I highly recommend it. It's based on the true story of King George VI (queen Elizabeth's father), who became king after his brother, Edward, abdicated the throne in order to marry his mistress, Wallis Simpson. King George stuttered and the movie is about his (working) relationship/friendship with his speech therapist before and shortly after he was crowned as king. Collin Firth was wonderful as King George. It was sooo good. GO see it.

I peeled a banana from the bottom end today because I couldn't open it from the top. My finger turned all brown from the grossness. And it kind of made me sick looking at the bottom of the banana. But I ate it anyway because I was hungry.

I love ickle and Lardee. Have you met them? Go here to meet them. They're pretty much the cutest yittle milk teef you have ever seen.

Blogger has more fonts. I haven't really checked them out. Thusly, I am still using this plain old font. But just you wait ('enry 'iggins) I'll be using them shortly, I'm sure.

Have you ever thought about what your life would be like if you had to live in a bubble? I was at the library recently and I found a movie on the real life bubble boy! I'm excited to watch it.

Whenever I hear or talk about bubble boys I always think of the Seinfeld episode with the bubble boy.

Also speaking of bubbles. Here is a view of the world from bubbles. Cool, huh?

I'm reading a book about human cadavers and I'm learning lots of useful information.

For example, did you know that a human stomach can hold about a gallon? After that, it either explodes (in the case of cadavers) or you throw-up (in the case of someone living). Like I said very useful, right?

The above is the reason why it's probably not a good idea to do the gallon challenge. Just sayin'. If you don't know what the gallon challenge is, google or wikipedia would be a good resource.

Okay, my lunch break is over. Have a happy Wednesday.

taxtime

I just finished my taxes and it took me six hours. Six hours of my life that I can never get back.

Good riddance to those things for another year.

I just saw 500 Days of Summer. I'm pretty sure my favorite character was Paul, a friend of Tom.

The movie reminded me of a combination of this:

and this (sorry for the fuzziness):

I'm now off to eat some cookies. I deserve them after what the government has put me through.

Here and There

Not that you really need to know this, but I used hydrogen peroxide to clean the built-up wax out of my ears yesterday. I've heard that it also prevents colds and since I started having a drippy nose and hurting throat on Thursday I thought I would try it. At the time, I thought it was a good idea, but now, my ears are hurting and my nose is still dripping.

Anyway, because I'm hungry I was looking at recipes on blogs today and I really want to try these ones.

Egg Drop Soup

6 c chicken stock
2/3 c thinly chopped green onions
4 shiitake mushrooms, stems removed, thinly sliced
soy sauce to taste
2 eggs, lightly beaten

Bring the chicken stock to a simmer, add the onions, mushrooms and soy sauce. Cook at a simmer for 3 minutes. Slowly pour in the eggs in a steady stream while mixing the soup with a fork. Let cook for another minute, until the eggs form solid ribbons.

Homemade Oreos

Chocolate Chip Cookies

Garlic Cheese Bread

Buttered Rosemary Rolls

And, last but not least

Baked Fudge

I saw this movie in 3D yesterday and suprisingly I really liked it! My first time seeing a real 3D movie! I like Johnny Depp but not so much Tim Burton, his movies are really dark, but this one wasn't which made me happy.

Are You Happy?

If you're reading this- I'm sorry for posting every day. I do tell myself that I shouldn't but then I think of something else I want to say and I just feel like I want to post it.

*****

First of all...This little flow chart represents how I evaluate many situations in my head.

*****

Second of all...9 Ways to Know if You Have "Estrogen Issues" (sorry in advance to the men who read my blog).

1. Everyone around you has an attitude problem.
2. You're adding chocolate chips to your cheese omelet.
3. The dryer has shrunk every last pair of your jeans.
4. Your husband is suddenly agreeing to everything you say.
5. You 're using your cellular phone to dial up every bumper sticker that says: "How's my driving-call 1- 800-".
6. Everyone's head looks like an invitation to batting practice
7. Everyone seems to have just landed here from "outer space."
8. You're sure that everyone is scheming to drive you crazy.
9. The ibuprofen bottle is empty and you bought it yesterday.

I think I do.

*****

Third of all...I really like this new Dove commercial (minus the fact that it's also a half commercial for Wal-Mart).

*****

Fourth of all...I really like this quote.

"This is a wonderful time to be living here on earth. Our opportunities are limitless. While there are some things wrong in the world today, there are many things right, such as teachers who teach, ministers who minister, marriages that make it, parents who sacrifice, and friends who help.

"We can lift ourselves, and others as well, when we refuse to remain in the
realm of negative thought and cultivate within our hearts an attitude of
gratitude
. If ingratitude be numbered among the serious sins, then gratitude takes its place among the noblest of virtues."

Let the Wild Rumpus Start

I saw it and thought it was good. The ending was sweet but not typical of what I've (maybe most people) come to expect in movies. The movie was sad and one of the wild things had something akin to an anger management problem.

I really liked the costumes for the wild things. The scenery was beautiful and so was the music. And Max was good- very cute boy. I would recommend seeing it.

09.09.09 OR (One Year Older)

One year ago today, on my birthday, I moved to Lexington. It's been a year of challenges, growth, and fun times too.

I went home over the weekend, for Labor Day, and my mom made a birthday cake. We ate some then (I blew out the candles!) and I brought the rest back to Lexington to eat. It is very, very delicious! You just have to be happy when you are eating a chocolate birthday cake. It's a true fact! We went out to eat on Saturday at a seafood place in Columbus. And I will go out to eat with my roommates this coming Friday or Saturday too.

I think my birthday numbers this year are pretty cool. It would be even cooler if I were turning 9 or were born at 9:09, but I'm not and wasn't. (I am glad I'm not turning 29 though. Then I would just be sad).

The kids on the school bus sang happy birthday to me in both English and Spanish. It was cute!

Tonight, we (a group of friends and I) went to see the movie UP. It was funny, especially the talking dog. I highly recommend it. It was a little bit sad, but other than that, good movie.

If you want to see birthday pictures you can go to my mom's blog and look at the cake.

Birthdays are much better when they are spent with family and friends. Thanks to everyone who wished me a Happy Birthday... I definitely feel loved!
