Achieving Greatness Through the Power of a Dream

17 days of

Unity
Determination
Perseverance
Heartache
Fair Play
Hard Work
Sweat
Tears

17 Days of Dreams Achieved under one flame.

Goodbye my friend, Vancouver Winter Olympics. I will miss you, but I'll see you again in four years in Sochi, Russia. (Hopefully with Apolo included!)

(Apparently I am not allowed to post interviews with Athletes or Olympic competitions on my blog. NBC only allowed me to choose from certain videos that I could post).

But, you can see some of Cris Collinsworth's (CC's Top 5 Moments of the Games) here!

So because I can't post any interviews of performances I will post some of the most Memorable Olympic moments (in my opinion):

In no particular order...

1. The historic U.S. four man Bobsled Gold.

2. Apolo Anton Ohno winning two Bronze medals and a Silver for a total of 8 medals--the most in U.S. history for a Winter Olympian.

3. Evan Lysacek winning Gold for figure skating and the first gold for Frank Carroll, his coach.

4. Joannie Rochette's figure skating performance winning Bronze despite the death of her mother the Sunday before.

5. Bode Miller winning Gold medal in the Men's Super-Combined Alpine skiing (and Silver and Bronze in Super-G and Men's Downhill).

6. Kim Yu-Na winning Gold in the ladies' figure skating event.

7. The Canadian Men's Hockey victory for Gold. (Even though I was cheering for the U.S.!)

8. Lindsey Vonn's Gold in Women's downhill skiing.

9. Shaun White's Gold in halfpipe.

10. Alexandre Bilodeau's Gold medal in Men's Moguls Freestyle skiing.

Thank you Canada! The Maple Leaf Forever!

What will you remember most from the Vancouver Olympics?

Last Olympic Post (Maybe)

I must remember to breathe while watching the Olympics.

Standing right in front of the TV and cheering and jumping up and down seems to best help for the athletes, especially for Apolo.

I can't believe the Olympics are almost over. It makes me sad.

I love the sounds short track skating.

And hockey.

And National Anthems being played. And sung.

What are the rules for curling? And why exactly is it considered an Olympic sport? Please give insight if you have it...because to me, it's just sweeping ice.

What I have loved:

The Speed Skating (short track version), especially Apolo Ohno. Winter Olympic athlete with the most medals! Go Apolo! (I like what Jimmy Kimmel said: "Dear Apolo Ohno- thank you for being to frozen water what Michael Phelps is to regular water"!)

Figure skating--especially Evan Lysacek. Go Evan! Go Kim Yu-Na!

I have loved:

Listed above, but still...

Apolo Ohno and Evan Lysacek

Scott Hamilton. His figure skating commentary cracks me up.

What I would like to see during the closing ceremonies:

Michael Buble singing--considering he's Canadian and all.

What I'm excited for after the Vancouver Olympics:

Sleep at a normal hour.

Glued

I'm glued to the tv.

I've decided the Olympics are addictive like chocolate with nuts. I just can't get enough of these games.

I love the Olympics. I mean, I really love the Olympics.

I also wish I was there to witness them in person.

Also, I've decided that he is my pretend short track speedskating boyfriend.

And he is my pretend figure skating boyfriend. And gold medalist!

Snowy Day

"One winter morning I woke up and looked out the window. Snow had fallen during the night. It covered {almost} everything as far as I could see ..."

(excerpeted and from The Snowy Day by Ezra Jack Keats and inserted I instead of Peter).

As a gift from the snow, I got two, count em' TWO, snow days in a row.

Tonight I will be enjoying snow cream and a walk in the white goodness.

My little horse must think it queer
To stop without a farmhouse near
Between the woods and frozen lake
The darkest evening of the year.

He gives his harness bells a shake
To ask if there is some mistake.
The only other sound's the sweep
Of easy wind and downy flake.

The woods are lovely, dark and deep.
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.

"Stopping By Woods on a Snowy Evening" by Robert Frost
(Doesn't he have the perfect last name for this poem?!)

In the Which the Mystery is Revealed

Baby, it's cold outside!

The cold and the combined snow means a snow day today! Except it's raining now which means we couldn't get any snow cream out of it. And most of the snow has melted which means it's just a slushy white mess. So, what we have is a snow turned to rain day. But it is very sunny outside, thankfully. We haven't had much sun during the past week.

I really want to see this movie, but it's gone from the theatres and the library charges to check out new videos. I guess I will have to wait until I go back to Columbus. C'est la vie.

(500 Days of Summer)

For Christmas I received a digital camera. Yay! But I have no computer to download the images to, which is the reason my posts only have images I've taken from Google.

I'm thinking of starting a food blog, I have so many recipes that I want to try. But here's the thing. I think food blogs should have pictures, somehow it just makes the food more appealing. Don't you think? The lack of a computer pretty much hinders the adding of pictures. I guess I will just have to wait until my computer is fixed.

It seems as of late that life and time has taken a cosmic fast forward. Why does it go so fast as we age? I've always wondered that.

Older people say to me, "enjoy your youth while you can, it all goes by so fast."

I'm now beginning to realize they are right. Time does seem to speed up as we age. Last week I was listening to NPR and scientists have some new theories as to the reason why. Take a look for yourself, here. Very interesting reasons they provide and it definitely makes sense.

(Enter embeded video - be sure to watch it on the NPR website page link above- you have to scroll about half way down (it is the video with the Asian girl). I tried to embed it here but the video wouldn't show up.)

So, on the verge of sounding old myself, enjoy life while you can. It passes us by all too quickly.
